we aim high for safety. i aim high and sometimes away. how high we elevate depends on how close we are to the enemy. we fire real guns so we must use caution. the muzzle blast is dangerous at close range. each guy may elevate more or less then the other guy. i am never really aiming at any one. but i don’t want to appear that i am shooting into the sky either. but if billy is right in front of me i will discharge my weapon into the sky where it can’t hurt any one.pvt. james
Just curious – when you guys take aim, I notice a lot of you fire more towards the sky than towards the other guys. Is that some type of safety thing?
I notice that a lot at re-enactments. When guys fire, they aim above their targets. Why is that?
@DeuceMP2 well they said if anything goes wrong…something like tht..they dont want sued
@TheMoonman666 you need insurance too? Damn!
@decapodproductions yeah almost hypnotic
@DeuceMP2 …ohhhhh yeaa $1000 all togethor..thts how much i paying for a 1861 musket and a full civl war union suit..plus insurance

@TheMoonman666 they are blanks. a paper cartridge with 60-90 grains of re-enactor black powder. only the powder is poured down the muzzle not the paper. james

isnt the sound of brogans on concrete a good sound
2nd DE was there I think.
Looks like a lot of fun being a civil war reenactor. Also looks like an expensive hobby.
im going to Gettysburg in 3 days 1 to the 5 i cant wait!!!
@MickeyJWind Does that mean you want us to contract diseases if in the Civil War, our company came down with an illness? Are we supposed to eat the exact same things they ate in the Civil War. If the troops were starving, do you want us to not eat? We love to reenact, we do it for FUN, hence the excitement. Heck, we get to shoot at people (granted, we only use blanks). Of course we’re happy! Just can it and appreciate that people sacrifice their time for entertainment and educational purposes.
Considering the state of the ANV during the Appaomattox Campaign, these rebel reenactors seem way overly happy, excited and energetic.
thank you.
